“Strong medicine”: an analysis of pharmacist consultations in primary care.



  • Patient often find it difficult to discuss their medication fully with their prescribing doctor.
  • Pharmacist seeking extend their role within primary care and are idealy placed to provide independent medication service.
  • Pharmacist consultations within primary care are a feasible extension of their current role as prescribing budget advisor.
  • Feedback of information to other member of the primary health care team (PHCT),  given patient consent would be useful for a better understanding of the patient's perspective which in turn the negotiation of the patient management
